Jeremy Martin

Co-Founder & Head Instructor

Jeremy grew up in Elmira, Ontario playing minor hockey through the Ontario Minor Hockey Association. After minor hockey, Jeremy decided to forego junior hockey and pursued other hockey opportunities in the United States, playing for Liberty University from 2012-2017. Jeremy played over 100 games for the Flames as both a forward and defenseman. During his time at Liberty, Jeremy helped the Flames Division III team reach their first national tournament and was a key part of the leadership core in his junior and senior years.
Following university, Jeremy returned to the competitive hockey scene as an assistant coach with the U15 AAA Hamilton Huskies, 2011 AAA Cambridge Hawks and spent a short time as a scout for the Waterloo Siskins Junior B team.

Jeremy and Rick founded Next Step Development aiming to teach hockey players not only the required to play at a high but also the game itself.

Rick Chapman

Co-Founder & Head Instructor

Rick has coached everything from Timbits hockey up to Junior B over his impressive 25-year coaching career. As a player, Rick played Junior B and has spent a significant amount of time around hockey ever since, due to his family's involvement in the game at every level. Rick enjoys this great game and it is shown in his dedication and the years he has committed to the game both as a player and a coach. Rick has had many former players go on to play at high levels of hockey such as Junior B, Junior A, the OHL, and several players drafted into the NHL. Rick emphasizes the development of life skills that will help the players succeed both on and off the ice.
